Mill Conversion Project
Old mills are part of the heritage of Rhode Island and efforts to preserve them are well worth it to save the heritage for the future generations. Following that line of thought, Strive Construction partnered with another investor and purchased the mill at 1110 Central Avenue in Pawtucket, right at the border between Rhode Island and Massachusetts. It will contains 35 units of residential space and the structure will be there for our grandchildren to see and remember. Additionally, the old mill also houses commercial space leased to Gyms Direct.
Located on Central Ave., the mill will benefit the city of Pawtucket by converting unused mill space into residential and light commercial spaces. The project is consistent with the goals of the city’s comprehensive plan, including:
- The reduction in the amount of vacant industrial space.
- Increasing the number of businesses and jobs in Pawtucket.
- And activating historic mill buildings with residential and commercial uses.
Scope and Time Table
The project is the full conversion of the old Pawtucket Bleaching and Dyeing facility including major demolition, total clean up, interior partitioning for living and light commercial space, exterior remodeling and refinishing, as well as landscaping suitable for the intended use. The project started early 2019 and is expected to finish by early 2020 welcoming its new residents.
